Freebies???

I tried signing up for a website that touted  free samples of all sorts. An acquaintance of mine swears by it but I found it wasn't nearly as easy as it claimed. (Is anything in life easy?)

Maybe she has more time than I have. I found myself wasting precious time filling out form after form and being linked to page after page, just to get a measly little sample of something.

The few samples that I did manage to complete the forms for still haven't arrived. This fact doesn't surprise me because the sites say "wait 6-8 weeks for delivery."

I have see other site out there promoting free samples for moms, free makeup samples for women, etc. Has anyone found a site(s) that really do give samples without all of the forms and links and catches?

Delish' dinner!

So I found this new stuff; Sizzling  Salads dinner kits.

Just one thing to say: YUM!!!

I made a salad with 1/2 spinach (5oz) and 1/2 lettuce (half a head) and threw in a little shredded carrot and cabbage (2cups) too for some for some crunch and flavor and tossed it with 2 Tbsp of the toasted sesame dressing.

I made up the chicken following the directions on the box, tossing it with the teriyaki ginger sauce.

I ate two servings.

It was so good and the sauces are low calorie too.

Best of all I only used 1/2 of the sauces/dressing so I have plenty more for another serving.

Delicious!

Have you tried these? Do you like them?

Getting ready for the tooth fairy

It's never too early to prep for the tooth fairy. Since we visited the dentist this week I thought it would be a good time to put together the tooth fairy kit that we got from a friend.

(She won't lose teeth for another few years but we now have a place to put teeth when they do fall out!)

Step one: mix plaster (This is messy, I would recommend a parent do this. Also, use disposable bowl and spoon. The direction stay not to put this down the drain because it will harden.)

Step 2: Pour into mold and let harden. 20-30 minutes.

Step 3: Pop out and decorate!

The kit makes 4 boxes. My friend made two and gave two to me, leaving one for my daughter to paint and one for me.

Total time on this craft was 1hour including the 30 minute drying time. A great afternoon activity!

The things we do for kids.

My last sewing project of the summer, a Sofia the First dressing dress for my daughters birthday.

(This is me hand sewing 2 yards of pearl beads onto the bottom of the scallops.)

For what I have now spent l this I could have bought one for the Disney store, but now this has a mothers love sewn into it!

I still have some finishing touched up put on it. I'll post a picture when its completely finished.

What have you gone above and beyond to do for your kids?

One Hot Bird

Sometimes it seems that on facebook and blogs people only share the good things and the successes. I want to share the opposite today.

I attempted to make a "beer can chicken" on the grill. My husband and I have made this several time before with no problems. Tonight I got the chicken out, seasoned it, cracked open the beer can, removed some of beer so it wouldn't boil over, put it all in a foil pan to catch the drippings, put ot on the grill (medium heat) and walked away.

About five minutes later, I was several yards away getting fresh lettuce from my garden I smelled something funny. I looked up and saw my grill spewing flames and black smoke.

I ran over, opened the lid and dodged a fireball! I turned off the burners and reached under to turn off the propane tank.

The picture Of the grill was taken after everything was turned off (Safety first). The picture on the right is the poor charred bird.

What kind of cooking disaster stories so you have?
